Johnny Flynn ‘Been Listening’
Dear Friends,
I don’t usually do things like this, but I thought it was a special occasion.
Johnny Flynn released his second album, ‘Been Listening‘, on Monday, and I urge you to go and pick up a copy. It’s my favourite album of the year.
Some of you may already know him, some of you may have seen us tour together, some of you may even have heard us request him on the radio at every station we’ve visited in the last two years. Johnny and his band, ‘The Sussex Wit’ were some of the first people to put faith in us and take us on the road with them, and they remain some of our most dear friends and greatest inspiration. We think they’re wonderful, basically.
But all of that personal shit aside, this album is ridiculously good. And I think it’s really important; it’s controlled and it’s unfettered; it’s patient and it’s urgent. It’s just damn good.
So long live Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit, and enjoy it as much as we have. We salute you.
